Russell Wilson

In my all-time NFL QB list, Russell Wilson ranks tenth and going into next season I have him as the third-best active QB.

The top ten being

  1. Aaron Rodgers
  2. Tom Brady
  3. Russell Wilson
  4. DeShaun Watson
  5. Patrick Mahomes
  6. Josh Allen
  7. Dak Prescott
  8. Matt Stafford
  9. Justin Herbert
  10. Lamar Jackson

Of this top ten, only Watson and Herbert play for areas outside the top 16 in the overall list. It should come as no surprise that a pretty good QB is the biggest part of a pretty good roster. Teams have a chance of covering injuries at the positions, but if any of these ten QBs goes down with a serious injury it is pretty much game over for that team in 2021.

Be honest now, what chance would we all give the Seahawks if Danny Etling was under center rather than Russell Wilson? As I said at the top of the page, Wilson is one of the greatest NFL QB’s of all time so is irreplaceable, unless you plan to replace him as we all feared during the preceding months of swirling trade rumors surrounding Wilson.

But it seems all the possible suitors have made their moves now, unless something extraordinary happens we will see Russell Wilson as the Seahawks QB in 2021. Having one of the premier players at the premier position is a massive plus for any roster, and that is exactly what Russell Wilson provides for the Seahawks. Indeed, having one so good enables you to cover weaknesses in other areas, which I will come onto later.
