Seahawks 2021 draft: 4 cornerbacks who fit the Seattle testing requirements
By Geoff Shull
Player 2: Ambry Thomas, CB
Thomas looked like a wonder coming into this past season. A top-45 lock and one of the few sure things in the draft. However, after opting out of the season, the light has firmly disappeared from the talented prospect.
Thomas’s measurements/ testing:
- Height: 5’11”
- Weight: 190lbs
- Arm-length: 32 1/4 inch
- 40-yard dash: 4.37 seconds
- 3-cone: DNP
- Short shuttle: DNP
- Vertical jump: 38 inches
- Broad jump: 122 inches
- Bench press: 15 reps
Thomas showed some rust in the Senior Bowl. However, there was just enough improvement throughout the week to remind scouts how much potential he has.
He is incredibly sticky in coverage. His closing speed is second to none, and his ball tracking ability is elite. He has very fluid hips. He is an elite disruptor. He gets his hands on you and messes with the timing of the route and release.
The biggest docks against Thomas, he is not a stout tackler. He has struggled with securing the tackle which could be a deal-breaker for Seattle. The second, he has a habit of getting a little too handsy which can result in unnecessary penalties.
Round projection: 3rd round.
