Next three steps Seahawks should take following 2021 NFL draft

Sign Austin Reiter
12s have complained all offseason, since Russell Wilson has been reportedly complaining all offseason, about improving the offensive line. Seattle didn’t make a huge splash in the 2021 NFL draft by taking a tackle early but they couldn’t. While pick number 56 isn’t that late in the draft it’s probably too late to take a sure-fire starter in that player’s rookie season.
Seattle did take Stone Forsythe in the sixth round and Forsythe could be a steal that late in the draft. But again, Forsythe offers no guarantee that he will 1) start one day or 2) even make the roster.
Seattle traded for guard Gabe Jackson this offseason and he, along with Damien Lewis, should help form a very good interior along the Seahawks offensive line. Tackles Duane Brown and Brandon Shell are very good-to-solid (Brown being the very good one) and Seattle should be set on the outside for at least 2021. So the biggest question could be center.
Ethan Pocic was pretty good in the first five games of 2020. But he also seems to get hurt every year to some degree. But late in the year he looked like he simply isn’t strong enough to be a long-term good center. So bring in former Chief Austin Reiter. Reiter isn’t going to be overly expensive and replacing Pocic with Reiter allows Pocic to be a backup and fill in along every position on the offensive line as needed.
