Seahawks weeks three through seven

Week 3 at Minnesota

Like the Titans, I like the additions the Viking made in the draft, notably in addressing a massive need to improve their pass protection. Again getting them early could be the best time to get them and again like the previous matchup, controlling Dalvin Cook’s production may well be the key to victory in this one.

Key Seahawks

The linebackers and defensive ends

They need to get to Cousins and control Cook in order to limit the Viking to 20 points or fewer. If Cousins has time to find Jefferson, Thielen & Co. the Seattle secondary will struggle to contain them.

Prediction: Vikings 21 Seahawks 24 (Seahawks 2-1)

Week 4 at San Francisco

The two games the ‘hawks have with the 49ers in 2021 will either be won in the trenches or by an elite QB performing at or near best.

The bad news for the ‘hawks is that the trench battles look tough for the ‘hawks to win, so over to you Russell.

Oh and by the way, go after the 49ers LBers with short quick passes is my tip.

Key Seahawks

Russell Wilson, Gerald Everett, Will Dissly and D’Wayne Eskridge.

Prediction: 49ers 24 Seahawks 20 (Seahawks 2-2)

Week 5 v LA Rams

I have looked at tape of the games between these two teams from last season and attacking the left side and center of the Rams offensive line will pay dividends for Seattle. New QB Matt Stafford is immobile if very talented, so if you can get a pass rush going you will get to him.

On the offensive side of the ball, the short passing game will also pay dividends as the Rams have elite pass rushers that the ‘Hawks offensive line will struggle to contain. Again this will require a top-level performance from Russell Wilson.

Key Seahawks

Gabe Jackson, Brandon Shell, Russell Wilson & Gerald Everett

Prediction Seahawks 23 Rams 21 (Seahawks 3-2)

Week 6 at Pittsburgh

In my opinion, the Steelers have added a huge talent at RB in Najee Harris via the draft, but they have failed to fix the offensive line.

So even with Harris, they are set to struggle offensively in 2021 for me with a weak offensive line and an aging and waning power at QB.

The defense is still pretty good though, albeit the Steelers corners are a good matchup for Metcalf and Lockett, so in a low-scoring game this is where the ‘hawks can get the edge here.

Key Seahawks

Pass Rushers and Wide Receivers

Prediction Steelers 17 Seattle 23 (Seahawks 4-2)

Week 7 v New Orleans

Offensively the Saints will struggle in any game that Alvin Kamara does not have 100 scrimmage yards in this coming season. The ‘Hawks LBs will need to limit Kamara when he does get to the second level. So stop him and you will keep the Saints to less than 20 points.

The Seahawks offense will have joy running the ball up the middle against Saints in my view and I believe they do not have corners capable of containing Metcalf and Lockett either.

Key Seahawks

Chris Carson, D.K, Metcalf,  Tyler Lockett and Bobby Wagner

Prediction Seattle 29 New Orleans 20 (Seahawks 5-2)
