As we come to the end of May, there are only about 30 free agents of note still on the market, the draft is done and the first phase of mini-camps are underway. So it is time to consider how the Seahawks roster could look like for the 2021 season.

With the Seahawks not having much of what budget they had remaining to make free agency moves, at most there would probably be one more addition, two if they need to backfill for Aldon Smith), the Seahawks that are currently rostered are probably where the final 53 man roster comes from.

According to the Seahawks own website, there are currently 91 rostered players. So which 38 are going to fall on the wrong side of the cut line and which are going to make it onto the roster for the first preseason game?

With a quick look down the current 91 man roster, 40 can be pretty much guaranteed to be on the 53 man roster. Leaving 13 spots for the other 51 to fight for.

This shows what a tough business the NFL is, just making a 53 man roster is a significant achievement and these guys need to working their socks off from now to book their place.

The Seahawks chosen 40

I will start by listing the forty that I think are certain to be on the 53 man roster unless trades, injury, retirement, off-field issues or anything else occurs to prevent them from being so.

Russell Wilson, Geno Smith, Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, DeeJay Dallas, Travis Homer, D.K.Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, D’Wayne Eskridge, Duane Brown, Brandon Shell, Cedric Ogbuehi, Ethan Pocic, Gabe Jackson, Damien lewis, Jordan Simmons, Nick Bellore, Geral Everett, Will Dissly, Kerry Hyder, L.J.Collier, Carlos Dunlap, Aldon Smith, Poona Ford, Rasheem Green, Bryan Mone, Al Woods, Darrell Taylor, Benson Mayowa, Jordyn Brooks, Ben Burr-Kirven, Bobby Wagner, Akhello Witherspoon, D.J.Reed, Jamal Adams, Quandre Diggs, Marquise Blair, Michael Dickson, Josh Myers and Tyler Ott.

I have included Aldon Smith despite the current uncertainty over his situation, as on the assumption of innocence he would get onto the roster. Now I will look at the other 13 spots and who is competing for them at each position.
