Who is Julio Jones and why should the Seahawks want to trade for him?
Julio Jones has been one of the most dominant wide receivers of the 2010s. He is a unicorn of a player. He is fast, strong, agile, and has the mentality to match the physical gifts.
Since entering the NFL in 2011 he has consistently been considered a top 3 WR’s as Matt Ryan’s go-to guy. Before an injury-plagued 2020 season, Jones had amassed six straight seasons with 1390 receiving yards or more.
Sure, the Atlanta Falcons threw the ball a lot. However, there is no reason to see why Julio Jones couldn’t be successful with a potentially new-look Seattle Seahawks offense. He may not get 1390 yards, but he will see plenty of action to keep him involved.
Seattle faces one of, if not the most competitive divisions in the NFL. The offenses are all coached by incredibly bright minds with creative schemes. The defenses are all stacked with talent from top to bottom. The worst team in the NFC West could very well be the best team in a couple other divisions in 2022.
As it is right now, I could make a solid argument that Seattle is marginally better this year than it was last. However, marginal is not enough to get the team to the Super Bowl. Making a move for one of the most dominant wide receivers in the game could be the type of move to get Seattle back on top. Truly capitalize on its aging superstars and to win now.
