Two Seahawks make the 2021 ESPN All-Under-25 team
By Lee Vowell
ESPN put out its NFL 2021 All-Under-25 team and two Seahawks made the list. One is a certain receiver but the other is a good surprise. To be eligible a player must be younger than 25 before the start of week one of the 2021 season on September 9th.
Of course, this compilation is only one site’s opinion but it is a very reputable site, of course. And any list showing the “bests” that has two Seahawks on it is a very good thing. One of the Seattle players is clear. Receiver D.K. Metcalf has already set the Seattle single-season record for yards caught with 1,303 in 2020.
Metcalf could actually make this list next year too as he will not turn 24 years old until December making him still younger than 25 when the 2022 season begins.
Seahawks have two listed on ESPN’s All-Under-25 team
The second of the two Seahawks players is guard Damien Lewis. This is fantastic to see as the offensive line in front of Russell Wilson has been not-good and much-maligned over the past several years. Lewis was a rookie in 2020 and started every game at right guard except for one where he had to fill in at center.
In 2021, Lewis will flip over to left guard since Seattle signed veteran Gabe Jackson who is a natural right guard. But Lewis will also play next to Duane Brown so the left side of the Seahawks offensive line should be very good.
According to the article, Lewis was one of two rookie offensive linemen in 2020 to have 500 or more pass-blocking snaps but allow just three or fewer sacks. Offensive linemen usually get better with a couple of seasons played so Lewis could be a Pro Bowler soon.
Other notable players to make the list were Metcalf’s former college teammate, receiver A.J. Brown, quarterback Lamar Jackson and 49ers pass rusher Nick Bosa.
