The NFL announced last week that teams can wear two different helmets in the same season beginning in 2022. Throwback uniforms for the Seahawks may return too. Prior to the NFL deciding that teams could use a couple of different helmets in a season, due to safety reasons teams could only go with one helmet.

This was, of course, unless a team wanted to paint each helmet in between games which is understandable impractical. There basically is no way a team would be able to do this. But now, the NFL wants to make some more merchandising money and will allow two helmets.

Both sets of helmets will be required to pass safety rules, of course, but this shouldn’t be an issue. Helmet makers know by making helmets that are still safe they are going to make a lot of money from the league.

New (or throwback) Seahawks jerseys likely to happen in 2022

Then fans will turn around and buy new helmets and new jerseys. Or throwback jerseys. Color scheme is important so the Seahawks old old gray would not match the Seahawks current blue and green mix. Seattle could choose a few things here.

One is that they will still go with just the one helmet style and color currently used. This is unlikely because, again, there is money to be made from having two different designs of helmets and jerseys.

The second is that Seattle might choose to go with the old gray helmets and go with the old blue and white designs of the jerseys from the 1970s and 1980s and so on. Fans already still buy these jerseys but putting them on current players would make them sell even better.

The third option is to do something new. Seattle could go with action green jerseys and action green helmets so that the Seahawks truly look like neon highlight markers. Sounds absurd, but this would still make money and money is the name of the game for the NFL.
