Brian Poole

Maybe the Seahawks don’t have a huge issue at slot corner. But Seattle has also been lucky that Ugo Amadi has done OK there and maybe Marquise Blair, if he can stay healthy, can play that as well. Amadi did have a QBR-allowed against him last season of 86.8 but also allowed 73 percent of the 63 targets against him to be completed. Poole, in comparison, allowed 64.1 percent of his targets to be completed and a QBR-allowed of just 61.6.

The argument can be made that Poole might be an injury risk as he played in just 9 games last year, however in his previous four seasons he missed a total of three games so 2020 seems like an outlier.

Poole, too, as opposed to Amadi, can pinch down and blitz when needed. He actually played some linebacker when he was with the Falcons in 2018 and had 3 sacks. In both 2018 and 2019, Poole had 5 quarterback hits. In Amadi’s two seasons, he has zero QB hits.

Poole had 7 passes defended in 2020 in those 9 games and Amadi had the same number but in 14 games. Poole had two interceptions as well while Amadi has yet to have one in his career.

No slot corner is not awful in Seattle but Poole would make the position better and making Nickelback better takes the pressure off the outside corners some so adding Poole makes the whole cornerback unit better and make the Seahawks a better football team.
