Shaquem Griffin signed with the Dolphins on Friday but could have been used so much more by the Seahawks. He will be good in Miami. Of course, there is no guarantee Griffin makes the roster but he should because he is a good football player and great in the locker room. Griffin had a hard time making the Seahawks roster because he is a linebacker and Seattle has been stacked at LB.

But Shaquem Griffin is also a very solid teams player and if he makes the Dolphins his lay on this unit will likely be why. In fact, I think Griffin could turn out to be a near Pro Bowl player on special teams with his size and speed. There were times on Seattle’s special teams that he crushed a returner.

But I will be honest here, the reason I want Shaquem Griffin to do well is the same reason that I hope his brother Shaquill succeeds for the Jaguars (Shaquill signed with Jacksonville in free agency this offseason). The Griffins play with so much joy and apparent love of the game that why wouldn’t you want them to do well?

Shaquem Griffin could be missed by Seahawks

Sure, the NFL is a job. You wouldn’t want to show up to your workplace and do really well with metrics but then have your higher-ups say, “Yeah, he’s great. But only if he worked with more joy.” But sports is a spectator sport and watching physical greatness is one thing but watching someone having fun playing adds another nice element.

But I think the Seahawks will miss Shaquem Griffin because of his on-field abilities, or maybe what they couldn’t do with Griffin. I think Griffin can get 5 sacks or more in a season with a more creative defensive coordinator with the Dolphins. Add to that his ability on special teams and Griffin is the kind of player who does the dirty work that each team needs.
