Jordyn Brooks

While Taylor has been the guy most talked about as replacing K.J. Wright in the Seahawks scheme, for all intents and purposes it is Brooks that will be doing that. Bobby Wagner is going to be on the field nearly 100 percent of the time and Brooks will be close to that. Because in 4-2-5 situations (and most situations in the NFL are 4-2-5), Brooks is going to remain on the field and Taylor is going to rotate out or up to defensive end.

The Seahawks linebacker duo isn’t going to be Wagner-Taylor. It is going to Wagner-Brooks. And Brooks will likely get more than 100 tackles this year and be a force with his speed and his immense ability to tackle. When Brooks has his eyes set on a runner, that runner goes down.

Brooks might be tasked with covering tight ends a bit more than he is used to – and whenever Wagner does stop playing for Seattle, Brooks is going to slide over to Wagner’s spot – but in limited time Brooks showed he was able to cover decently.

But Brooks’ biggest impact for Seattle will be a lot like Wagner’s. Brooks can run sideline to sideline chasing down running backs and jet sweeps and eating up those runners. Brooks might even be sent on blitzes from time to time but Brooks’ presence will most be felt in limited an opposing team’s explosive plays and ability to run the ball.
