Trade two

Seahawks get: Tight Zach Ertz

Eagles get: Seahawks fourth round pick in 2022

I realize that Seattle signed Gerald Everett this offseason, still has Will Dissly on the roster and he is potentially very good and Colby Parkinson is entering just his second season. But in Shane Waldron’s offense, skill at tight end is a must and Ertz would add excellent pass-catching ability and intelligence to the group.

Every single tight end above, except Parkinson, would be in the final year of the current contract. Hopefully, Seattle will find a way to re-sign at least Dissly as he is an excellent blocker and has shown flashes of being able to catch and run. Everett, if he has a good year, might be too expensive for Seattle after the 2021 season.

But Ertz for a fourth-round pick would be potentially very good in 2021 and beyond. Ertz is 30 years old so he should have a few good years left, and while he was not overly productive in 2020 it was mostly because the Eagles offense was awful overall.

Bringing Ertz to the Seahawks and giving him an extension through 2023 would be a wise move for the Waldron system. Ertz’s current contract voids in 2022 and 2023 but an aging tight end usually doesn’t get paid a ton so if Everett leaves, Seattle could still be very good at tight end after this year if they extend Ertz and re-sign Dissly.
