Five free agents Seahawks should sign before the 2021 season begins

Josh Gordon
Josh Gordon has asked the NFL for reinstatement but has yet to be so. The NFL tends to do these things on their own time so who knows when – or if – Gordon will be reinstated. But Gordon did seem to enjoy playing in the very short time he played for Seattle in 2019. The Seahawks also helped Gordon out earlier this year by releasing him so he could play in the upstart Fan Controlled Football league.
Gordon is not a slot receiver like Golden Tate. He is a big target with speed. He’s more Metcalf than Lockett. But signing him would allow for offensive coordinator Shane Waldron to play around with receiver alignments even more. Tyler Lockett, especially, could be moved into the slot, in the backfield or out wide.
But Gordon himself could even line up in the slot at times as he has the quickness to get off the line and create space. When he was with the Seahawks in 2019, Gordon caught a few short passes to pick up important first downs. So it would be fun to watch what Waldron would do with Metcalf, Lockett and Gordon.
Gordon won’t be expensive as a lot of teams have shown in recent years that they aren’t going to take a chance on the oft-suspended Gordon. This lessens his market. But Gordon would be good in Seattle and the Seahawks would be better with him. I am going to optimistically assume he gets reinstated before the season and the Seahawks sign him.
