Strength of Seahawks roster #11: Offensive tackle

In any other world, this unit would be top 5. They have both the quality starters and depth to be great. However, other factors have played a huge factor in this position’s last-place finish.

Duane Brown is holding out for a new contract. Coach Carroll himself said he isn’t sure if Brown will hold out into the season without a new deal. The team appears to be prioritizing the Jamal Adams contract first.

Brandon Shell and Cedric Ogbuehi have been splitting time at right tackle. Both have played well. However, both have had injuries sideline them for at least a few practices.

Behind these three are Jamarco Jones, and rookie Stone Forsythe. Jones has been held out the last week because of an injury. Forsythe has also dealt with an ankle injury himself.

The unit looks decimated right now. If health moves their way and they can get the contract dispute settled with Brown, this unit would slide in at number 5. However, those two ‘ifs’ have dealt a major blow to the unit resulting in this being my lowest current confidence in Seahawks roster.
