Strength of Seahawks roster #8: Linebacker

This yet again may be a surprise spot for the fans. The team has Bobby Wagner for crying out loud. However, the lack of depth is something that is truly concerning.

Bobby Wagner will continue to be, well, Bobby Wagner. One of the best to ever do it. He plays the run, pass, rushes the passer, and leads the unit. Next to him is the second-year stud Jordyn Brooks. I am really high on Brooks.

I heard one scout actually say Brooks looked like Bobby Wagner coming out of college. They compared his ceiling to that of Wagner as well. While it may be a bit early to compare the second-year player to a future Hall-Of-Famer, he is going to be exciting to watch.

This is where the excitement dies. The depth behind these two is comprised of core special teamers. Cody Barton has had numerous opportunities to play. Yet, I always leave feeling he is thinking too much and playing too slow. Ben Burr-Kirven is a great special teams player but has yet to play any meaningful time.

Behind these four are Aaron Donker the German linebacker, Nate Evans, Jon Rhattigan, and full-back Nick Bellore. All it would take is one injury and the unit would be hurting.

All in all, top-level play is great. The depth is amongst the worst on the roster. This unit lands at number eight.
