Robert Nkemdiche

What? How could I possibly think Nkemdiche disappointed versus the Chargers when he didn’t even play? Well, that’s the thing. Nkemdiche has never met expectations in the NFL since the Cardinals drafted him in 2016. He had a decent 2018 but even then missed 6 games.

And that has been the biggest issue with Nkemdiche in his career: He has not stayed healthy. Nkemdiche has played in 29 of a possible 64 games in his career and started only 6 of them. Seattle is taking a chance on him by thinking he can reach his potential in the Seahawks system and supply an interior pass rush.

Nkemdiche reportedly started training camp looking motivated and potentially very productive. But then, as he always seems to do, he got injured. He suffered a nagging groin injury that has kept him out of all the preseason games.

For some players, like presumed starters, missing preseason games is not a big deal. They get enough first team reps in practice and keeping them healthy is more important than gets reps in glorified scrimmages. But Nkemdiche needs to show he can be good for Seattle and needs to do that against opposing teams and simply hasn’t proven he can stay healthy enough to help the team.
