The Seahawks have to have their roster trimmed to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon. There are several players at risk for not making the team. Some players are banged up and this hurts their chances of earning a spot.

Some players simply haven’t performed up to the level a team of the Seahawks overall quality needs for a chance to make a deep run in the postseason. Seattle has a lot of top-end talent but depth can make or break a team’s season and Seattle needs to make wise roster choices.

Which players might not have performed well enough, or have been too injured, to prove they need a shot at the Seahawks week one roster? Maybe the ones below need to be cut.

Four players the Seahawks might should cut by Tuesday

Jamarco Jones

Jones at one point against the Chargers literally stood flat-footed as the ball was snapped to Geno Smith. He has never been a long-term healthy player and trying to count on him to start for several games in a row if a starter goes down doesn’t seem wise. Is Jones a tackle or a guard and is he good at either one? We don’t know.

Ethan Pocic

I really doubt Pocic doesn’t make the team but his salary is bloated and Seattle made a not-wise choice to re-sign him. Maybe in week one of the regular season, Pocic is fine, starts and plays well. But, like Jones, there is no proof Pocic can stay healthy for a very long stretch of time. Fuller appears to be just as good and is cheaper and even Damien Lewis filled in in a pinch in 2020 and was just as good as Pocic. He is expendable.

Travis Homer

Homer is a fantastic blocker but a middling running back and while he can return kicks, so can several other Seahawks. Keeping Russell Wilson clean is probably more important in making a roster spot than most people anticipate. Homer is the best blocker Seattle has in the backfield. If he comes in on obvious passing downs, he helps Wilson. Otherwise, Homer is just taking up a roster spot from DeeJay Dallas or Alex Collins or some other running back.

Next. Three Seahawks that may have sealed roster spot in preseason game 3. dark

Robert Nkemdiche

Health health health. Nkemdiche has never been healthy for a long period of games. He has missed 35 of a possible 63 games in his career. This preseason he has not played at all. Maybe he is talented, though he hasn’t ever been consistently good in the NFL, but is he worth a roster spot? Not at this point.
