The Seahawks put out their first injury report before week one against the Colts on Wednesday and there were no real issues. No players missed practice completely and most of those who were limited are currently backups.

The Colts also put out an injury report and they had one key player who did miss practice and another who is an important part of their defense. All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson has a back issue and was kept out of practice. He’s questionable for Sunday. Cornerback Xavier Rhodes has a calf injury and is day-to-day. Quarterback Carson Wentz did practice and should be fine for Sunday.

Of course, things can and will change before Sunday but a player starting off week one’s practices might not be a good sign that they will be ready to play. Based on Wednesday, the Seahawks may be in better shape than Indianapolis.

Seahawks Wednesday injury report for week one versus Colts

Limited in practice

Rashaad Penny (name a part of the leg and there is probably an issue), D’Wayne Eskridge (toe) and Ethan Pocic (hamstring) all participated some in practice at least. If I had a guess, I would say Pocic and Eskridge don’t play this week and Kyle Fuller and Penny Hart take their places. I am always surprised when Penny plays.

Full participants

Others with minor injuries, such as Chris Carson’s neck and D.J. Reed’s foot did not keep them from being full participants but these are certainly things to keep an eye on closer to Sunday. That Seattle’s top three running backs, while they practiced, were all listed on the first injury report of the season might not be a good sign.

It will be nice to see Reed back on the field, though. He is probably the best CB Seattle has right now and based on the preseason he is extremely important. Now let’s hope his health holds up all season long.
