Will Dissly

Dissly showed extreme promise as a blocker and a receiver his first two seasons but saw both years cut short by injury. In 2020, though Seattle got off to an excellent start offensively, Dissly seemed to disappear from what Seattle wanted to do throwing the ball. This likely had more to do with then-offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer’s idea of what Seattle’s offense should look like but by the end of the season we learned Schottenheimer’s way was not the best way.

Now Schottenheimer has been replaced by Shane Waldron and presumably, Waldron’s offense will look quite different than Schottenheimer’s. If Waldron’s scheme looks anything like what the Rams have done in recent seasons then the tight end group is going to be extremely important.

Yes, Gerald Everett was signed this offseason as a free agent and played under Waldron’s passing scheme with Los Angeles but Will Dissly might still be the better overall player. We know Dissly is a great blocker and we think Dissly can be extremely productive as a receiver too. In his first three seasons, he has caught a ridiculous 78.6 percent of his 70 targets.

If Dissly can stay healthy in 2021, he should get at least 60 targets, and likely much more, based on what Rams tight ends have done the last few years on average. And if Dissly comes close to anywhere near his career reception per target he will have one of the better seasons of any tight end in the NFL.
