Three reasons for hope for the Seahawks against the Titans
The 1-0 Seahawks play the 0-1 Titans in week two but both teams are capable of making the playoffs. 12s should have a lot of hope heading into Seattle’s first home game of 2021. Here is why.
Seahawks hopes versus Titans in week two
Hope number one: The Titans are struggling to find an identity on offense
In their opener, the Titans left much to be desired in their awful 38-13 defeat against the Cardinals. They struggled to do anything right on offense starting with receivers AJ Brown and Julio Jones. Jones had three catches for just 29 yards and no TD catches. Brown had four catches for 49 yards and 1 TD.
QB Ryan Tannehill only put up 212 yards passing, was 21-35, for one TD and one INT. Derrick Henry had 17 carries for just 58 yards rushing. The Seahawks are hoping the Titans continue to struggle to figure themselves out on offense until week three.
Number two: The Titans offensive line looks a mess
The Titans struggles appear to be stemming from poor offensive line play so far this season. They could not protect QB Ryan Tannehill at all in week one allowing six sacks. The lack of protection clearly impacted the overall success of the offense, as the Titans struggled throwing the ball.
The offensive line problems extended further to the running game, for the Titans as they rushed for only 86 yards. The Seahawks defensive line was great in week one at shutting down Jonathan Taylor and getting after Carson Wentz. They could have another successful week against the Titans.
Number three: The Titans do not have a good pass rush
Kyler Murray tore up the Titans defense in week one. He threw for four TD and one INT and was 21-32 for 289 yards. Murray was able to buy time with his legs, something Russell Wilson is also skilled at.
The Titans had just two sacks in week one and have been known to struggle at providing consistent pass rush. For Wilson to have success against the Titans he needs to follow Murray’s blueprint in week one against the Titans, by buying time with his legs, so his receivers can get open.
