Seahawks versus Titans: 3 bold predictions for week 2
By Lee Vowell
Darrell Taylor has 3 sacks to help the Seahawks win the game
Taylor was very good in week one, especially in the second half. He missed all of 2020 with a leg injury but was taken in the second round of the same year because of his potential to chase down quarterbacks. He did not disappoint against the Colts.
Taylor, however, may sense that he has a lot of the same eyes on him in week two that he had in college. He went to the University of Tennessee and lots of Vols fans are also Titans fans so this might be extra motivation for Taylor.
But Taylor also doesn’t even need the extra motivation as he has simply shown that he has immense speed and strength since being able to play. Yes, he was very good in preseason and improved every preseason game but preseason games don’t count, obviously. In Taylor’s case, however, he needed the preseason games as he had never played in the NFL against opposing teams. He took that preseason play and translated it into a very good pro debut with a sack, a tackle for loss and 2 quarterback hits.
The Titans offensive line struggled against the Cardinals in week one and Arizona edge rusher Chandler Jones had 5 sacks. Tennessee left tackle Taylor Lewan is good but still recovering from an ACL tear last year. Taylor won’t get 5 sacks but he will get 3 and help Seattle to a 31-20 win.
