Seahawks are smarter than random blogger plus inactives week 2
The Seahawks are actually pretty good at preparing for all kinds of personnel issues. Turns out they have better ideas to handle injuries than I do. Frankly, I’m shocked.
Before I get into that, however, the Seahawks put out their list of inactives for week 2 and Bryan Mone is among them so (hint hint) Robert Nkemdiche needs to be good this week.
Hey 12s, before we get to the meat of this article, let’s talk potatoes. You know, the side dish we all love, the extra added piece that completes the mental meal. In this case, it’s fried. Fried, as in a mild frying of Fox Sports for their endless positing about Pete Carroll’s birthday.
Seahawks intelligent franchise (clearly!) and inactives week 2
In case you missed it, Pete turned 70 this week, and he looks good. Pete is much more than a football coach and he proved it once again with this beautiful heartfelt message. But, yeah, Fox, we knew the Seahawks icon was about to turn 70.
Oka, so on to the steak. It’s probably more of a Salisbury steak than sirloin. I just need to address a couple of comments in my previous article on the Hawks injuries. The first correction is that wide receiver D’Wayne Eskridge has been ruled out for today’s tilt versus the Titans. Freddie Swain is still the most likely recipient of increased snaps, but I also expect Gerald Everett and Will Dissly to get a few more looks today. So there’s no change there, other than the definite loss of Eskridge for the day.
The big change – and I mean literally big – is the addition of Robert Nkemdiche to the active roster. Our peerless and fearless leader Lee Vowell informed you of this move yesterday and did a masterful job of explaining just why this could have a big impact on the Seahawks game today. But Robert himself has a lot to say on the subject. Here he is, addressing the press back in early August:
Clearly, Nkemdiche is a man who knows he didn’t truly apply himself to the game when he was younger. It’s just as clear that he has been giving 100 percent of his efforts to the Seahawks in what could be his last chance to establish himself in the NFL. Listen to the guy; his enthusiasm is absolutely infectious. And by the way, Robert: Happy Birthday!
Now it’s going to take a lot more than enthusiasm to stop Derrick Henry; otherwise, you and I would be out there on Lumen Field today. Bryan Mone tips the scales at 366 pounds, Nkemdiche weighs in at a svelte 296. He’s a completely different type of athlete, and as such, I expect we’ll still see a lot of Al Woods today. Since I completely forgot about our birthday boy, you should just be grateful that I’m not running the Seahawks, 12s.
