It’s no secret that the Seahawks have struggled this year. They have been inconsistent on both sides of the field and all levels of the field. Cornerback Stephon Gilmore could help fix this.

The offense continually stalls. Russell Wilson continually holds the ball too long resulting in sacks. The receivers are hobbled. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are playing hurt. Wide receiver three and second-round pick Dee Eskridge has been out for a month due to a concussion.

The running backs are failing to make a consistent impact. The offensive line has failed to make running lanes. The tight ends are ghosts despite the promise of bigger things this year.
On defense, the line was supposed to rival 2013’s star-studded trench monsters. However, they have been streaky if nothing else. They show flashes of this holding true and stretches where they look to be in early 2020 form.

The linebackers have been a weak spot. Bobby Wagner has been the consistent player he always has been. However, he cannot do everything. Cody Barton has been sup-par. Jordyn Brooks has been benched two times in four games. In last week’s game, he was pulled in favor of a dime package with Ryan Neal.

The Seahawks need to sign the newly released cornerback, Stephon Gilmore

The safeties are trying to cover the holes that remain on defense. However, there is only so much they can do when the cornerbacks aren’t covering. Jamal Adams has been sup-par. Blame whatever you want for Adams play. He is the highest-paid safety and is playing no better than Bradley McDougald had on a very team-friendly deal.

However, the biggest area of concern is easily the cornerbacks. The position has been widely unsettled. This last week Tre Flowers was benched in favor of Sidney Jones. However, Jones was not perfect, or even close. This position needs significant help and fast.

It’s not often that a player of Stephon Gilmore status comes available at this point in the season. However, that just occurred. The Seahawks need to strike and strike fast.
