Where do we go from here?

First, it is worth noting that Geno Smith did a fantastic job last night. Although the Rams defense isn’t what it was last year, Smith came in on his first drive and led the Seahawks on a 99-yard drive capped off with a D.K. Metcalf touchdown.

Smith didn’t have a single incomplete pass and looked very poised against a swarming Rams defense that was looking to end the game. Smith is a seasoned vet and may be the quarterback moving forward. Of course, Russell Wilson’s health is the largest question looming over this organization today.

The second biggest question mark is the defense. Media outlets will rip the defense today and more notably, Pete Carroll, for going consecutive seasons with a horrendous defense. But, let’s not act as the season ended on Thursday night. Yes, the defense has some major holes. Yes, the Seahawks are back in last place of the division. However, Seattle has a prime chance of getting back on track over these next three weeks.

Two of their next three games are on primetime. Week 6, they go on the road to Pittsburgh to take on the struggling Steelers and in Week 7, on Monday Night Football, they face the stagnant Saints in Seattle. In Week 8 — prior to the bye week — they face the Jaguars at home. Say what you want about Pete Carroll, but they have one of the best primetime records over the last decade. The Seahawks have a really solid chance to turn this season around over the next month.

Lastly, can we please stop acting as Wilson will never suit up in a Seahawks uniform again? 12s need to stop with the farewells and appreciation posts. This is a long season and there is a lot of football left to be played. We don’t know what moves are going to be made and what adjustments will be set in place in the upcoming weeks. Most importantly, we don’t know what lies ahead. But, don’t fool yourselves; we all love the adrenaline rush we get when we watch Seattle.
