Quandre Diggs

Quandre Diggs has been the Seahawks best safety this season. Heck, the argument could be made that after Darrell Taylor and Bobby Wagner that Diggs has been Seattle’s third-best defensive player. Diggs has 2 interceptions. The rest of the team? Zero. Diggs is tied for first on the team with passes defended with 3 (Jamal Adams has 1). Adams does have 43 tackles but Diggs has 38 and Adams at strong safety should have much more than Diggs because Adams should play closer to the line.

So the question is why wouldn’t Diggs return? It comes down to money. Diggs is playing like he is in a contract walk year and like he wants an increase in his next paycheck. In 2021, Diggs is playing for $3.625 million. To most of us, that is good money. But in relation to other players of his skill level in the NFL, that is pretty low.

Diggs rightfully wants more money in 2022 and I am not sure Seattle can or will pay him what Diggs wants. Seattle could move Marquise Blair to free safety while Diggs leaves to play elsewhere. Blair is a second round pick who has shown he is deserving of more playing time. Blair is also cheaper.
