The Seahawks didn’t come away with the win Monday night, but the loss certainly can’t be laid at the ever-active feet of defensive lineman Rasheem Green. He was absolutely the MVP of the game.

The Seahawks didn’t exactly blow the doors off this one, did they, 12s? Scoring just 10 points isn’t going to win many games in the NFL. But holding the opposition to 13, now that will usually give you a W. No one on the Hawks defense had more to do with holding the Saints to that low output than my week 7 MVP, edge defender Rasheem Green.

This isn’t exactly Green’s first time as a standout for the Seahawks. He’s been my pick as the overachiever of the game twice already this season. An aside; I know it’s juvenile, but I really really really want to call him Action Green.

Can we get that done, Seahawks PR people? I mean, it’s just perfect, right? Rasheem Green, Action Green….it flows. And of course, he would wear the appropriate jersey in every game. EVERY GAME.

Seahawks Rasheem Green played well in week 7, finally

Okay, back to reality. Despite being part of the Seahawks turnstile of defensive ends/LEOS/edge defenders, Green came up big versus the Saints. Yes, Darrell Taylor needs to play, and so does Alton Robinson, and so does – well, you get the picture. Green had a terrific game, just as he did in the season opener versus the Colts.

The point is, Rasheem Green was the man who made the biggest plays in this game. Mind you, this was just the second time this year that New Orleans had been held to less than three touchdowns. They may no longer be an offensive juggernaut, but it took a team effort to hold them to one touchdown and a pair of field goals. Jamal Adams, Jordyn Brooks, and of course Bobby Wagner had a lot to do with the solid Hawks defense.

One additional point; our resident expert Lee Vowell couldn’t have been more prophetic when he said the weather would be a key factor in this game. Among other prognostications therein: “defending Kamara on short passes will be extremely important”. Mr. Vowell added that was a big if. Sadly true. He also predicted the team that runs the ball best would win. The Aints won that battle by four yards. The only thing he missed was the game MVP; but that’s easy enough for me, since it’s after the fact.

dark. Next. 3 takeaways from Hawks vs Saints

Listen 12s, when one player gets half your sacks, half your quarterback hits, and a third of your tackles for a loss, he’s having more than a solid game. He’s having a great game. When you consider that Mr. Rasheem Green – sorry, Action Green – was on the field for just 38 of 74 snaps, well, he just has to be the game 7 MVP.
