3 takeaways from displeasing Seattle Seahawks Week 7 loss

Defense once again shows promise
Despite a 2-5 record and a near-impossible shot at making the playoffs, there was one bright spot in the Monday Night defeat. The Seattle Seahawks defense has put together back-to-back solid performances. Although they haven’t been able to generate much pressure, the changes in the secondary have helped them get off the field more often.
Ryan Neal saw an increase in playing time last night, but struggled against Kamara. In his defense, not many can stay with Kamara. In fact, Kamara was the sole reason the Saints had the lead at halftime. Hence, why the Seahawks started to play inside out on him in the second half.
Meaning, one linebacker had the outside assignment and the other, inside. They forced Jameis Winston to beat them and he couldn’t. The Saints scored just three points in the second half and it came on the late-game field goal that was gifted to them by Seattle penalties.
In my opinion, the two major changes made that have helped this defense have been in the secondary. First, starting Sidney Jones at left side and secondly, the debut of the rookie, Tre Brown. D.J. Reed seems to play with more confidence on the right side.
Ever since the Week 5 adjustment, Reed has played with more pep in his step. He is becoming more aggressive at the line and has been involved in numerous pass breakups. Another standout from Monday Night was Jamal Adams in coverage. He made many plays on the ball.
His running mate, Quandre Diggs also put together a solid game. Overall, this Seattle defense didn’t allow the Saints to be explosive. Outside of two drives, they shut them down. Really, the defense kept Seattle in the game as Ugo Amadi forced a fumble that led to the game-tying field goal. I know the weather may have played a factor, but give credit where credit is due.
The Seattle Seahawks defense has another great opportunity next week as they take on a struggling Jacksonville Jaguars offensive front.
