DK Metcalf greatness and a final prediction

Number 2: DK Metcalf has 12 catches for 200 yards and a touchdown

The issue with Seattle’s offense this season hasn’t been DK Metcalf. His numbers would be better, of course, had Russell Wilson been throwing him the ball (or at least targeting him more, Geno!) but Metcalf is fourth in the NFL in touchdown catches (6), is having the best year of his career as far as catching the ball when targeted (66 percent), yards per catch (16.3) and yards per target (10.7). Metcalf is currently on pace to have 14 touchdown receptions this year.

He will get one of those touchdowns in week 8. Metcalf will actually get 200 yards receiving and be targeted 16 times and catch 12 of those. Maybe former Seahawk Shaquill Griffin will try to cover Metcalf, but Metcalf is better than Griffin. Jacksonville’s pass defense versus receivers has given up the 7th-most fantasy points to opposing receivers. If you have Metcalf in a fantasy league, you will be happy with his output this week.

Number 1: The Seahawks win a high-scoring game but it’s very close at the end

The Seahawks may not trust Geno Smith, it seems, but Seattle cannot lose to the Jaguars. If that means letting Smith throw the ball 40 times, so be it. Jacksonville isn’t awful versus the run and Seattle’s receivers and tight ends are better than the defensive players the Jaguars have. Let Geno cook!

In fact, not letting Smith throw the ball against such an obviously bad pass defense means that Seattle’s coaches are coaching with fear. If they don’t trust Smith, then trust Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf and Gerald Everett. Seattle has talent and that needs to be used this week.

So, while Lawrence will have a big day and Josh Allen will get 3 sacks, Lawrence will also throw 2 interceptions and Jacksonville will have just one other sack. Smith will throw for 340 yards and 2 touchdowns and Seattle will win 38 to 31.
