Seahawks versus Jaguars: Our staff predicts a happy day for 12s
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks must win on Sunday versus the Jaguars for two reasons: Seattle’s season is basically over if they don’t and Jacksonville stinks. No offense to all those Jaguars fans reading this prediction article. First, you must know your team is not good. Secondly, you might be better in three years than Seattle is.
But with Russell Wilson hopefully coming back in week 10 after Seattle’s bye week next week (I realize that was a lot of “weeks” close together), Seattle still has a 16 percent chance of making the postseason in 2021. But as Jim Carrey said in Dumb and Dumber, “So you’re telling me there’s a chance.”
Well, yes. There is. But the Seahawks have to win on Sunday and get to 3-5 before they next play the Packers and then the Cardinals in weeks 10 and 11, respectively. With a loss in week 8, there is a very real possibility that Seattle starts 2-8. With a win and if Russ comes back and works his magic then maybe, just maybe, the Seahawks get to 4-6 (with a loss to the Packers) then go 3-0 against the Washington whatever, the 49ers and the Texans.
Staff predictions for week 8 when Seahawks play the Jaguars
That would make them 7-6 and if they lose to the Rams in week 15, Seattle then finishes with the Bears, Lions and the Cardinals (who might be resting starters in week 17) and Seattle finishes 10-7. That might just be good enough to make the playoffs in the top-heavy NFC in 2021.
But it all starts with a victory over the Jaguars in week 8. Here is what our staff thinks will be the final score on Sunday.
