Seahawks: Three reasons for hope against the Jaguars
There is a good chance the Seahawks can end their three-game losing streak on Sunday because of how bad the Jaguars are. They rank among the league’s worst in offense, defense, and turnover margin which is not good when facing an experienced coach such as Pete Carroll.
1. The Jaguars defense is terrible
Jacksonville has struggled on defense all year, giving up over 28 points a game and they currently rank 26th in the league. Not only do they give up lots of points, but they also give up 412 yards a game which ranks 30th in the league.
Given the Seahawks struggles on offense after the injury to Russell Wilson, this is welcome news for a team averaging 15 points a game in his absence. Jacksonville has also forced the fewest turnovers of any team in the league, which means the Seahawks should feel comfortable letting Geno Smith throw the ball.

2. The Jaguars have the worst turnover margin
The Jaguars are tied with Kansas City for the worst turnover margin in the league as they are -10 in that category. They not only create the fewest turnovers in the league, but they also turn the ball over the second-most in the league. The problem has been exacerbated by the fact that they are starting a rookie QB in Trevor Lawrence with the fewest weapons of any QB in the NFL.
Jacksonville came into this season with a rookie head coach and a rookie QB, which has made adjusting to the speed of the NFL difficult for them. This is why there have been so many turnovers by the Jaguars this year, as their QB has the third-most interceptions in the league.
3. The Jaguars are struggling to find offense
The Jaguars currently do not have a receiver who has averaged over 100 yards receiving. Their best receiver, Marvin Jones Jr., is averaging 57.2 yards receiving a game. The Jaguars strength on offense comes from their ground game, where running back James Robinson averages 76.7 yards rushing.
The Jaguars overall, rank 27th in the NFL in scoring, averaging 19.3 points per game. The Seahawks defense showed signs of improvement in their last game against the Saints, holding them to 13 points. Hopefully, the Seahawks defense can find success against a Jaguars team that has struggled on offense this year.
