Seattle Seahawks vs. 49ers odds and prediction for NFL Week 13 game
By Jake Luppino
Entering Week 13, the Seattle Seahawks are soul searching. On a three-game losing streak, they look to right the ship against a divisional opponent in the San Francisco 49ers. Who, I might add, are one of the hottest teams in football as they enter this game-winning three in a row. The focus should not be on a near-impossible playoff entry or playing spoiler to the 49ers playoff hopes. They need to focus on establishing their identity.
Another porous Week 12 performance against Washington saw Seattle struggle in finding their run game. Despite hitting some big plays down the field, the Seahawks once again failed to sustain offensive drives. Primarily because of their inability to effectively run the football.
The San Francisco 49ers on the other hand, have been brought back to life because of their dominant run game. Much like what Washington did to Seattle in Week 12, San Francisco has been able to put together long scoring drives riding the coattails of their running game.
Although this game was flexed out of Sunday Night Football, there is still a lot on the line. The Seahawks are playing for pride while looking to complete the season sweep and the San Francisco 49ers are looking to get another game ahead in the Wild Card race.
Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers Odds Week 13
The 49ers are playing just about as good as anybody else in the NFL right now. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they are road favorites in Week 13. The WynnBet betting odds currently have the 49ers as -3.0 favorites over the Seahawks. San Francisco also has -165 moneyline odds while Seattle sits at +145. The over/under for total points is set at 45 (-110 for the over, -110 for the under).
Seahawks vs. 49ers Week 13
In the first meeting of these two teams in Week 4, the Seattle Seahawks were able to build momentum in the second half and capitalized on their opportunities, giving them a big lead. But, in the first half of the game, Seattle had five straight three and outs – similarly to what they did in the second half of their Week 12 game. Luckily, in Week 4, they were able to piece together offensive drives. But, with a downward trending offense, many fans are concerned that it is too late to fix this broken offense.
KEY TO THIS GAME: Make Jimmy Garoppolo beat you
Over the last three weeks of football, no one has been better at running the ball than the San Francisco 49ers. For three straight weeks, they have rushed for 150 or more yards. In Week 12, they rushed just North of 200. They have seemed to find a winning formula at the right time. Unfortunately, they are expected to be without WR Deebo Samuel this Sunday, who has been one of their lead rushers on this winning streak.
Given the poor statistics held by Settle in time of possession and third down efficiency, it is going to be critically important that the defense gets stops. They are going to have to stack the box and force Jimmy Garoppolo to beat them with his arm. The Seattle Seahawks have found profound success as of late against the San Francisco 49ers and it is evidently because they have done a good job of limiting this San Francisco offense.
In fact, in the first meeting between these two, the Seattle Seahawks had one of their best time of possession games, holding the ball for more than 28 minutes. They were also able to establish the ground game, picking up 7 rushing first downs along with 105 total rushing yards. But, the only reason they were able to remain in this game was because of their defense. Which quite frankly, has been the storyline over the last month or so.
Defensively, the Seahawks have been able to get off the field pretty consistently. The offensive issues are causing fatigued defenders late in the second half, resulting in teams being able to put together long scoring drives. 12s are still waiting for the offense and defense to mesh together. I think we are finally going to see that this weekend as I am once again rolling with the Seahawks over the Niners, 24-21.
