3 takeaways from Seattle Seahawks dominant Week 14 win

Tyler Lockett Appreciation Post
The Seattle Seahawks Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, Tyler Lockett, had himself a day in Week 14 against the Houston Texans. In doing so, he tied Seahawks legend, Steve Largent, as the only Seahawk to have three straight seasons of 1,000+ receiving years. His rapport with Russell Wilson is the best in the league. No one is better in the scramble drill than Tyler Lockett.
He is the most underrated wide receiver in the NFL. For whatever reason, Tyler Lockett has never really been given the love and admiration he deserves. Not only does he have great hands, but his anticipation and feel for the game is up there with the greats. His sideline awareness is arguably the best in the league, as he just always seems to get two feet in bounds. His route running allows him to break down defenders in zone or man coverage and work his way up the field for big plays.
One of those plays came before the half when Russell Wilson hit Tyler Lockett on a 55-yard rocket for a touchdown. He finished the game with 5 catches, 142 yards and 1 touchdown. Just think about this for a second, he averaged nearly 30 yards per catch in the Week 14 win. That is just insane. We have seen teams play conservatively on the defensive side against the Seahawks and yet, number 16 still manages to get open and make the catch.
As good of a player as he is on the field, he appears to be an even better man off the field. Remember, it was two weeks ago before the San Francisco game where Tyler Lockett gave a “really touching” speech in front of the team. I have said this numerous times before, the leadership on this Seahawks team is what has allowed them to remain afloat in the midst of chaos. Someone like Tyler Lockett deserves credit for that. Although he is small in stature, his presence on this team is enormous.
