The Seattle Seahawks season is effectively over, but that doesn’t mean we still aren’t seeing stellar play. No one stood out more or was more valuable to the Hawks than defensive end Carlos Dunlap. The Destroyer is back.

The Seahawks season is basically over. Once again, the offense failed to come through. I can’t say the defense was completely blameless, either. After all, they did surrender 20 points. Yes, that was certainly aided by some, shall we say, questionable calls by the zebras. Questionable as in insanely bad, but I digress. This is about what went right, not wrong.

Seahawks defensive end Carlos Dunlap went very right indeed. To be accurate, I’d say he went right, left, and straight through opposing players to get to Rams QB Matthew Stafford. I’m sure Carlos gave Matty a five-star rating on Airbnb. I mean, Stafford was extremely accomodating. He allowed Dunlap to stay as long as he liked on repeated trips. It seems Carlos had full kitchen privileges, too.

Seahawks DE Carlos Dunlap destroyed the Rams, or as close as anyone could

Carlos Dunlap goes by damndunlap on Instagram, but as this is a family-friendly site I had to come up with an alternative nickname. I’d say a man that recorded three sacks, three quarterback hits, and three tackles for a loss deserves the name The Destroyer. It’s worth noting that until Tuesday’s contest, Dunlap had a total of 1.5 sacks, five QB hits, and one tackle for a loss in the 13 previous games of 2021. In just eight games with the Seahawks in 2020, he recorded five sacks, 14 QB hits, and six tackles for a loss. This game was definitely a return to form for him.

Next. 3 takeaways from crushing loss to Rams. dark

Is it too late for this season for his resurgence to make a difference? In the short term, of course it is. The Seahawks are out of the playoffs, but that doesn’t mean the players aren’t going to give their all for the 12s. For the long term, this was a very big deal indeed. Dunlap’s huge game shows that restructuring his contract to keep him in Seattle for this year and next was a great move. I expect to write game MVP, Carlos Dunlap, again soon.
