The Seattle Seahawks play the Detroit Lions in Seattle’s penultimate game for the 2021 season. Seattle is 5-10 and Detriot is 2-10-1. However, of the two teams, Detriot has arguably been playing the better of the two teams lately.

All-time, Seattle leads the head-to-head 9-5 over Detroit. Since Russell Wilson became the Seattle quarterback Seattle is 3-1 against the Lions. The only loss came in Wilson’s rookie season of 2012.

Detroit is 25th in the NFL in points allowed per game at 25.7 while Seattle is 7th at 20.5. The Lions are 27th in yards allowed per play (5.8) and Seattle is 13th (5.4).

The Lions offense scores 17.3 points per game (29th in the league) but Seattle isn’t that much better at 20.4 points a game (20th). Detroit did score 30 points against the Cardinals two weeks ago, though, in a game where they drubbed Arizona 30-12.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Lions: Odds, preview and how to watch Week 17

Seahawks Injury Report vs. Lions Week 17

The Seahawks likely won’t have right tackle Brandon Shell for the rest of the year. He has been dealing with a shoulder injury and with two games left and no postseason to play for, it might be better to give other players a look to possibly be long-term options. Shell is a free agent after this year. Likely, rookie Jake Curhan will get the start in his place.

Seattle will definitely be without John Rhattigan who is dealing with a knee injury. And Bless Austin and Damien Lewis are still both on the COVID-19 list and are unlikely to play. Without Lewis and Shell, Seattle will be missing two of the five pieces they expected to make up their 2021 offensive line.

The Lions might be without quarterback Jared Goff who has a knee injury. He is listed as doubtful but hasn’t practiced all week and is officially listed as doubtful. Detroit will be getting running back D’Andre Swift back for Week 17, though, and Swift was playing great football before a Week 12 injury.
