The Seahawks play the Cardinals in Week 18 and Seattle’s final game of the 2021 season. Arizona will be heading to the playoffs just like every other NFC West team except Seattle. This has not been a fun year.

Fortunately, the odds are somewhat in Seattle’s favor on Sunday. Arizona defeated Seattle earlier this season but Arizona hasn’t swept a season series against the Seahawks since 2009. All-time head-to-head has the series at an absolute tie 22-22-1. Seattle is 10-8-1 against the Cardinals since Russell Wilson became quarterback in 2012.

Arizona is 11th in the NFL in scoring with 26.2 points a game. Seattle moved up three spots in scoring after getting 51 against the Lions in Week 17 and rank 17th with 22.3 points a game. Defensively, the Cardinals are fifth in points allowed (20.5) while the Seahawks are 10th at 21.0.

But what might win this game for Seattle is the recent play of running back Rashaad Penny (481 yards rushing over the last four games). Arizona gives up 4.4 yards a carry, 22nd in the league. If Seattle can sustain and stick with a positive running attack, Penny could help lead Seattle to a low-scoring victory and end in the season on a good note.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Cardinals: Odds, preview and how to watch Week 18

Seahawks Injury Report vs. Cardinals Week 18

In what could be a peek into the near future, the Seahawks will not have future Hall of Fame linebacker Bobby Wagner in Week 18 and he will be replaced with Cody Barton. Wagner is due to make north of $20 million next year and Seattle would save a huge amount of money by releasing him ($16.6 million to be exact). Barton could take Wagner’s place next year.

Seattle will also be without injured players CB John Reid and RT Brandon Shell while safety Ryan Neal, DT Al Woods and DE Alton Robinson are on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Only Robinson has a decent chance of being activated for Week 18.

The Cardinals will be without RB Chase Edmonds, CB Marco Wilson, WR Rondale Moore and DT Jordan Philips due to injuries.

What to watch next

Sadly, the Seahawks will not have another game for the 2021 season as Seattle failed to make the postseason. However, there are still teams to root against starting next week when the NFL playoffs start. Just take your pick! (Just don’t pull against the Bengals. I went to school with Tee Higgins’ mom and I can tell you Higgins is a good dude and Cincinnati is fun to watch.) But as always, Go Hawks!
