Seattle Seahawks CB D.J. Reed has turned himself into a very good cornerback and is coming off his best season. But now he is an unrestricted free agent and, as always, there are plenty of teams looking to sign a high-quality CB. Reed will be getting a raise next year, that’s for sure.

Seattle will be looking for a new defensive coordinator this offseason and hopefully one who is a lot more aggressive than Ken Norton, Jr. was. As Seattle needs to add quality to its cornerback group, Reed might be a must re-sign for the Seahawks. But will Reed wait to sign with Seattle until he knows who the new DC is?

Reed also might give Seattle a bit of a break as after the 49ers were basically forced to release Reed in 2020, Seattle signed him and he became a starter and a good one. That is likely me with wishful thinking but I will have my fingers crossed he returns until he signs somewhere.

Or this could simply come down to how much money teams offer D.J. Reed. He had a 67.8 quarterback-rating-against in 2021 and that is a very good number. Reed allowed 3 touchdown passes when targeted and that isn’t terrible either. Pro Football Focus had Reed graded as the 9th-best CB in the NFL. Reed is going to be a wanted man this offseason.

Among the many teams that need a good cornerback, here are three that might have the best chance to sign D.J. Reed.
