Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are in very good shape for the next several seasons, especially offensively. Joe Burrow, Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase will all be on rookie contracts for at least the next two seasons. This allows more money to fix other needs. Some of the money will go towards fixing its offensive line but a chunk of it needs to go towards helping the defense.

Cincinnati is this close to being a Super Bowl contender for a long time. But while they are going to score points they need to stop other teams as well. The Bengals were 17th in points allowed in 2021 but that was while sharing a division with the Steelers, Browns and Ravens and each of those teams was 17th or worse in scoring this year.

This means that one should expect other AFC North offenses to get better soon because they can’t get much worse. Cincinnati doesn’t want to just win shoot-out games. Being better in pass defense will help fix that potential issue. Cincinnati was 18th in QBR-allowed this year (93.1) and 26th in completion percentage allowed (67.1).

Adding D.J. Reed helps the Bengals take another step towards being a great team but Reed would also win because he would be going to a team that gives him a good chance to win a Super Bowl in the next few seasons.
