Emmanuel Ogbah

It took Ogbah a bit to find his footing in the NFL after being the first pick in the second round in 2016 for the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland basically gave up on Ogbah after three seasons. It wasn’t that Ogbah missed a bunch of time with injuries – 8 games total in three years – but was producing digressively. In 2016, Ogbah had 5.5 sacks but in the next two years 4 and 3, respectively.

However, since going to the Dolphins in 2020, Ogbah’s career has taken off. Of course, Miami has a good defense overall so maybe Ogbah is simply benefiting from have other good players around. That said, he is producing at a high level no matter the reason.

In each of the last years, Ogbah has had 9 sacks. Ogbah had 21 quarterback hits in 2020 and 24 in 2021. All of the numbers mentioned in this paragraph would have led all Seahawks defensive linemen the last two seasons. Ogbah also had 9 tackles for loss in 2021 which would have been second on Seattle’s team and would have led all defensive linemen.

Ogbah had only 5 games where he didn’t record a quarterback hit this year and his consistency is something the Seahawks must have more of. Carlos Dunlap ended up with decent numbers for the Seahawks this year but a lot of those statistics came in three different games. Seattle needs to offer Ogbah $15 million a year for three seasons and see if he takes the offer.
