The Seattle Seahawks have several big decisions about which of their own free agents to try to re-sign. Of course, doing what Seattle did last offseason and re-signing a bunch of their own free agents and expecting great success would be a mistake. Seattle finished last in the NFC West and out of the playoffs.

While some of Seattle’s impending free agents don’t need to be re-signed, tight end Gerald Everett might need to be. The Seahawks also have Will Dissly due for free agency. Losing either Dissly or Everett would not be good but losing both would be terrible. Both can catch and run well enough and give Russell Wilson options besides just D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

Everett in 2021 caught 76.2 percent of his targets this past season (as all 12s know, he had two very bad drops where both would have been touchdowns and one ended up being intercepted after Everett bobbled it in the end zone and the ball ended up in the arms of a 49er). He had 48 catches overall and 4 touchdowns and ran the ball 3 times for 20 yards.

Everett was a 2021 free agent signee for the Seahawks and did about what they hoped. Besides the two costly drops, he was solid as a run blocker and showed speed when he caught passes. He should be brought back but there might be a team willing to outspend for Everett.

Everett is also just 27 years old and should have several good seasons left. Another year with the Seahawks likely means an even more productive Everett since we might assume Russell Wilson will be completely healthy in 2022.

But where does Everett end up? Besides the Seahawks, maybe one of these three teams.
