Russell Wilson performance lacking in two-hand touch Pro Bowl
By Lee Vowell
In a Pro Bowl game that was completely meaningless and looked a little silly, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson did not lead his team to victory. In fact, Wilson finished just 9 of 17 passing with 2 interceptions.
But were either of the interceptions his fault? Not really. His first was a throw that must have given him flashbacks to how Gerald Everett performed against the 49ers in Week 13 of 2021. The second pick Wilson threw was simply a breakdown in communication between a quarterback and receiver that never practice together.
Wilson was also “sacked” on a fourth down drop back. I use quotations there because if you didn’t see the game, you should know that tackling wasn’t really happening. It was nearly literally two-hand touch football.
Russell Wilson fails to shine in meaningless Pro Bowl
And there isn’t anything wrong with that. The Pro Bowl, unlike most other North American all-star games, is a complete farce and only played because TV contracts require it. At least in baseball, pitchers still throw hard and batters try to hit home runs. The NFL? Just don’t get hurt. And truly, that is the right way to go about it for the players, just not the fans. If you care by the way, the AFC defeated the NFC 41-35.
Russell Wilson looked healthy enough. His line protected about as well as he is used to (i.e. not great) and he had a player drop a sure touchdown. (Maybe it was simply the matter of a 49er hating on a Seahawk?) Russell Wilson must have felt right at home.

Wilson’s second interception was when he threw it to a receiver who clearly had no idea what route to run.

Then finally, the sack.

Russell Wilson has a penchant for holding onto the ball too long at times and may have done that on the fourth down sack he took. It gave a few negative flashbacks to this season for 12s because it happened in the fourth quarter with Wilson’s team trailing.
Overall, however, the game didn’t matter and Russell Wilson’s performance didn’t matter. He gave 12s enough happy memories from his performance in the precision passing skills competition.
