Trade target number 3: Clelin Ferrell, DL

I feel so bad for Ferrell. The previous Raiders regime way over-drafted the player (as they did with several others). This put exceedingly too high of expectations on the player.

Much in the way the Seahawks did with L.J. Collier. The biggest difference was one was a top 5 pick whereas the other was at the end of round one.

Ferrell was never going to be a Nick Bosa, Aaron Donald, or Chase Young. He isn’t the twitchiest of athletes. He is more of a long-levered player who can win with leverage and football IQ. In fact, he reminds me somewhat of Carlos Dunlap.

Ferrell was being shopped by Oakland before the trade deadline this season. Nothing materialized. He likely will not be expensive. However, what I want to remind people, Ferrell has the prototypical size the Seahawks covet.

He has shown in the past to be able to both rush the passer and defend the run admirably/ well above average. I had a late first-round grade on him entering the draft night. Sometimes in these situations, a change of scenery is all that is needed.

Ferrell may never be a sack artist. However, there is more than enough reason to believe he can become a very solid rotation cog for the Seahawks. This is especially true considering the cost.

Trade offer: 2023 5th round pick
