Trade Target: DE Grady Jarrett

The Atlanta Falcons similarly to the Philadelphia Eagles are in the midst of figuring things out. After finishing 7-10 in 2021, they have questions surrounding the future of QB Matt Ryan along with the rest of this organization. One of their star players, DE Grady Jarrett, could possibly be had if the offer was right.

As alluded to earlier, Seattle is known for making deals closer to the trade deadline where they pry away savvy veterans at a reasonable rate. There have been no indications that Jarrett is available to be had via trade, but I can only assume that Atlanta would pick up the phone to at least listen given the state of their franchise.

Last year, Atlanta switched to a 3-4 defense after using Dan Quinn’s 4-3 base defense for years. Although Grady only finished with 1 sack, he was a menace up front. Seattle still uses a 4-3 defense, which one can argue Jarrett is better suited for. But, we did see them transition to some 3-4 formations. They started running a certain nickel package with a 3-3-5 personal.

Jarrett is only 28 years of age may require Seattle to give up more in a trade than they would have to for Cox. Again, I would not move the second round pick. This 2022 draft class is very deep outside of the quarterback position. With the recent defensive moves Seattle has made and based on the dominant performances by both the Bengals and Rams front fours in the Super Bowl, it would be very hard to imagine Seattle not trying to acquire a DE/DT via trade.
