Number 2: Quandre Diggs

Why Diggs at number 2? Among all NFL safeties the last two seasons he has the highest interception rate of passes thrown into coverage. He is very good in coverage and excellent in run support. His fellow teammates appear to really like him as a person. There seems to be nothing not to like about Diggs.

Diggs might be number-two on this list but that doesn’t mean the Seahawks don’t need to re-sign him. They do. Diggs needs to return in 2022. But the reason I have Diggs here is that compared to the number-one player on this list, he can’t cause the entire unit he plays on to be extremely better. Diggs does make the defense better overall but he needs others to play better too.

Diggs will also be 30 years old in 2023 and a safety who relies on speed might start to see diminished results after 2022. Diggs likely will be a three-year deal and might want something near $10 million a season. That’s good money for 2022 but by 2024? Maybe not.

Seattle might be outbid by another team and Seattle should have a hard cap on the amount of money they are willing to offer him. The Seahawks need more help along the defensive line and if they get it it will help the secondary therefore lessening the burden Seattle has for Diggs to be great. Still, he needs to be re-signed but at the right price.
