Bobby Wagner

Cap hit: $20,350,000

Cap savings: $16,600,000

Unrestricted free agent: 2023

Restructure restructure restructure. Like Bellore, that is what I hope Bobby Wagner does too. But while Wagner is still a very good linebacker, he doesn’t appear to be as great in 2021 as he has been. He set a career-low for quarterback hits (3) this past year. Wagner had his lowest number of tackles for loss (3) since 2015. And while 12s all know the linebackers were having to cover crossing patterns a lot more in 2021, Wagner had his fewest passes defended (5) since 2016.

Wagner was still among the league leaders in tackles (170) but the Seahawks Seattle was also on the field defensively more than any other team in the NFL. This meant more chances for Wagner to accumulate tackles. The Seahawks allowed 70.6 plays per game to opposing offenses which were nearly 3 more than any other team.

I want Wagner to return in 2022. But Seattle made it clear with K.J. Wright last offseason that if the team is ready to move on they simply move on. And saving $16.6 million is simply too much to pass on.
