The Seattle Seahawks have good cap space to work with this offseason in free agency. The Green Bay Packers do not. Seattle should take advantage of their fellow NFC rival’s issues. The NFL, for all intents and purposes, is the opposite of mo’ money mo’ problems. No money? Then you got real problems.

Maybe Green Bay figures out a way to bring Aaron Rodgers back and that allows them to create some cap space. But Packers management has to be asking themselves if they are willing to take a chance on being good for one or two more years while mortgaging their future (nearly literally) and being bad for a bunch of years after that.

But let’s safely assume that Green Bay, even if they re-work Rodgers’ deal, will have to cut some good players because they can’t afford them.  Who should Seattle scoop up?

Three Packers the Seattle Seahawks should steal in free agency

Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell

Campbell isn’t a pass rusher but he is excellent in pass coverage. The Seahawks struggled immensely under previous defensive coordinator Ken Norton, Jr. in coverage over the middle as Norton would not have linebackers drop back deep enough. Quarterbacks would simply throw over them and pick up third and longs and keep drives alive.

Besides Seattle changing the DC to Clint Hurtt and getting help from associate head coach/defense Sean Desai, Seattle needs better coverage LBs. This is where Campbell comes in. Campbell had a coverage grade of 77.3 in 2021, per Pro Football Focus.

But Campbell is a well-rounded linebacker who plays the run well too. And at 28 years old has several good years left and shouldn’t require a huge sum to sign, just one the Packers can’t afford.
