Priority No. 5 to re-sign: Ethan Pocic, C

A less than exciting name to throw out. Both Pete and John praised Ethan Pocic’s play despite battling through injuries. He isn’t a flashy name but a known entity and one that fits the more zone-heavy scheme that the Seahawks appear to be heading towards (what the Rams deploy).

Did you know, Pocic averaged the most snaps on the offensive line without giving up a sack or penalty? Pocic had one sack or penalty allowed per 200 offensive snaps (roughly one every three games).

For a player who gets so much hate, this is a phenomenal stat. For reference, the next highest was Brandon Shell at one sack or penalty allowed per 138 offensive snaps (roughly one every two games).

I do not expect Pocic to be a player that is re-signed before free agency starts. I think they will let the market decide his figure. They are likely looking to sign him to a multi-year team-friendly deal. One that will keep his cap hit low in year one and balloon in the last year.

I will note that the Seahawks are excited by what they have seen in EFRA Dakota Shepley. It is possible they bring back Pocic as purely a competition piece rather than a starter. However, at this price tag with Pocic’s ability to play all five positions, that is a price worth playing for a versatile backup.

A realistic contract offer for Ethan Pocic: 2 years, $8.25 million
