Priority No. 4 to re-sign: Rashaad Penny, RB

Who would have thought that Rashaad Penny would be anywhere on a priority list just a year ago? Shoot, six months ago this still would have been a non-starter.

However, this is where we are. Rashaad Penny was arguable the hottest running back in the NFL over the last month and a half. He had more yards, yards after contact, and touchdowns than anyone over the final six weeks.

A fully-healthy Rashaad Penny showed what the Seahawks thought they drafted 4 years prior. A guy who runs like his hair is on fire with incredible breakaway speed. A player who can truly break any player open and take it to the house.

Any team that tries to sign Penny will have to battle the pros and cons. Penny has been unhealthy for 3.5 of his 4 years in the NFL. During the stretch of the season, he was completely healthy, he was dominant. That is a huge risk for any team to acquire.

However, as Pete Carroll stated, he expects Penny’s market to be hot. Other teams likely see a player who finally put it all together now that health is on his side. Is it a risk worth taking? We shall see.
