Priority No. 2 to re-sign: DJ Reed, CB

DJ Reed has been one of the Seahawks best waiver claims under the Pete Carroll and John Schneider regime. Reed has been everything for the defense.

He has been the only consistent cornerback to produce turnovers. He is seldom targeted. When he is targeted, quarterbacks have an abysmal 47.9% completion rate. Out of the 34 catches that the opponents made on Reed, only 79% of them were deserved.

What these stats come down to, Reed is very sticky in coverage. He has one of the best completion rates league-wide. The catches that he did give up, a solid chunk of them were pure luck.

Reed is truly one of the most important players to this team. Keep him on the right-hand side and let him do his thing. The Seahawks are simply a better team when Reed plays.

The Seahawks know this. It’s why reports have been surfacing over the last week that Reed is one of the top two players the Seahawks have every intention of re-signing before free agency kicks off. I think a contract right about where Bradley Roby is at is where DJ Reed’s market is.

A realistic contract offer for DJ Reed: 3 years, $32 million
