The Seattle Seahawks are about to enter the free agency period of the 2022 offseason. Teams can legally start tampering with free agents on March 14th so if Seattle is going to make a splash this offseason, 12s might have a good indication of where Seattle is headed in their thinking by March 15th.

Of course, since 2010 when John Schneider became the general manager, Seattle hasn’t really been ultra-aggressive in signing top-tier free agents. Not overpaying for a player has been the Seahawks way. That said, Seattle hasn’t had this much relative cap space in a very long time.

If Seattle was going to take a different route in free agency in their approach to bringing in a big-name free agent, this would be the offseason to do it.

4 high-risk free agents the Seattle Seahawks should take a chance on signing

Seattle currently has an estimated $33,956,030 in cap room, per Over The Cap. This is 8th-most in the NFL. Some of this money will need to go towards Seattle trying to re-sign its own free agents. Players like Quandre Diggs should be priorities for the team. But going into 2022 with basically the same roster as 2021 and expecting success would be a mistake.

This means Seattle needs to make good decisions in which free agents from other teams they want to sign. Seattle doesn’t just need to sign players to fill out the roster. They need answers at key positions like left tackle, center and cornerback.

But Schneider and Pete Carroll also aren’t afraid to take chances on a player. If they do that this offseason, maybe signing one of the four players that follow would be a good move.
