Evan Engram

Will Dissly and Gerald Everett are both free agents for Seattle and anything is possible with them. Everett is a good and athletic receiver and some team might outbid Seattle for his services beginning in 2022. Dissly is a good fit in Seattle but he was also underused as a receiver and might choose to go elsewhere for a chance to be more involved in an offense. Evan Engram is potentially a good enough receiver to easily replace Dissly or Everett, however.

Engram hasn’t really been able to live up to his 2017 first-round draft status while a part of the New York Giants. New York’s offense hasn’t been good for some time so a talented receiver at tight end is going to not be put in the right positions to succeed. Twice in his five-year career, Engram has had at least 109 targets but the Giants didn’t know how to get the most impact from those targets.

There is a bit of a rap against Engram that he gets injured too much. This was true in 2018 and 2019 when Engram missed a combined 13 games but in the last two years, he has missed only two.

The risk with Engram is not overpaying him because he can be such a good receiver. Engram doesn’t need to come in and be a top-two receiver for Seattle as the Seahawks have Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. But Engram made $6 million in 2021 and Seattle shouldn’t offer that much. But Engram would certainly help take the focus off Metcalf and Lockett.
